Garrison Keillor Fired Over Alleged Improper Behavior

Minnesota Public Radio personality Garrison Keillor is one of the latest in a growing list of public figures to be fired over alleged improper behavior.

Garrison Keillor was reportedly spotted speaking with diners at a western Massachusetts restaurant just hours after he had been fired from Minnesota Public Radio following allegations of improper behavior at work.

Keillor, a major personality of "A Prairie Home Companion," was spotted at Eat on North in Pittsfield two hours after his appearance at The Colonial Theatre had been canceled, The Berkshire Eagle reports.

"It's all kind of bewildering to me," Keillor reportedly said.

Keillor, 75, retired as the host of "A Prairie Home Companion" in 2016, but still produced "The Writer's Almanac."

In a statement to the Associated Press, Keillor said it was "poetic irony to be knocked off the air by a story, having told so many of them myself.

"But I'm 75 and don't have any interest in arguing about this. And I cannot in conscience bring danger to a great organization I've worked hard for since 1969."

He told the Minneapolis Star Tribune he was trying to console a woman when the alleged incident happened.

Keillor's firing came on the same day NBC announced Today Show co-host Matt Lauer was fired after 20 years on the show, and amid a flurry of other sexual misconduct allegations in multiple industries, starting with fallen Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein.
