Police Sgt. Thaddeus Derendal says some 225 gallons of the sweet-smelling pancake-topper from a Vermont producer oozed onto Route 101 around 2 p.m.
Firefighters used squeegees to corral the mess and poured a sort of kitty litter on it to speed the drying process. The two eastbound lanes were reduced to one lane while the cleanup was underway.
