Vigil Held for Baby Bella

It was a sea of candles as hundreds came out to Deer Island Monday night to honor the short life of two-year-old Bella Bond, who for months, was only known as "Baby Doe."

There were prayers, reflection, and song.

"It touched my heart... It's a sad thing it should have never have happened," said Kenny Gordon, who attended the vigil.

"It's just incomprehensible," said another woman from Winthrop.

The vigil was held at the same site along Deer Island where Bella's body was discovered along the rocks back in June.

State and local politicians including Governor Charlie Baker and House Speaker Robert DeLeo were also on hand for the case, that's garnered world-wide attention.

A tip Thursday lead police to Bella's own mom, and her boyfriend, who are now charged in connection with her killing.

"We have a son that's 15 months, and it's really heartbreaking so we just want to pay our respects," said Jahaire Soto.

For those who came out, they also took solace in each other's comfort, and sought meaning in the beautiful pink sky.

"That sunlight is for Bella, may she rest in peace."

No funeral arrangements have been made yet, although many have come forward willing to help bury her body.
