A 20-year-old Massachusetts woman died after being hit by a car as she was walking in a lane on Interstate 91 in Greenfield.
The Northwestern district attorney's office said the woman, who has only been identified as a Greenfield resident, was walking in the right-hand travel lane when she was hit from behind.
The driver involved in the pedestrian crash stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the woman's cause of death.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
