Man Gunned Down in Everett, Police Searching for 2 Suspects

Two people were seen fleeing the area around the same time as the shooting, police said

A man in his 20s was killed in a shooting Tuesday night and police in Everett, Massachusetts, are searching for two suspects in connection with the violence.

Police said the shooting happened at about 9 p.m. in the area of Partridge Terrace and Chelsea Street, where a man was found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Neighbors heard the gunshot.

"I figured, 'That's a strange bang.' I had never heard gunfire before," neighbor Molly Cahill said.

She watched as first-responders performed CPR on the victim, trying to save his life. He was then taken to Cambridge Health Alliance Hospital, where he later died.

Relatives say the victim was 25-year-old Robert Hinckley. He had recently moved from Chelsea to Everett with his 6-year-old daughter.

The victim's cousin, Guy, says he has no idea who would do this to him.

"He was a good dude, he was a good kid. He loved life, he loved his daughter, he loved his mother, he loved his family."

Guy added that his cousin had moved to Everett to change his life for the better.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim.

Neighbors said they believe the victim lived in a nearby apartment.

Police said two suspects were seen fleeing the area around the time of the shooting. A detailed description of the two people was not immediately available.

"Definitely, I'm concerned about that because I'm living on the same street. When I hear this morning, I'm scared and surprised," neighbor Danka Khanl said.

Partridge Terrace has a number of longtime residents, and they say nothing like this has happened here before.

"I'm the last one on the street. I've been here 64 years, and we've never had anything," Barbara Parisi said.
