Hannaford Issues American Cheese Recall Due to Metal Fragments

The Maine-based grocery store said no illnesses or injuries have been reported

Hannaford Supermarkets has issued a recall of white American cheese due to the possibility that they may contain metal fragments.

The Maine-based grocery store said it is recalling all white American cheese, including freshly-sliced deli cheese, produced for the company. Items purchased in the deli between Sept. 8 and Oct. 8 may contain metal fragments, they said.

Customers should not consume the cheese and may return it to the store for a full refund.

Hannaford said no illnesses or injuries have been reported.

The grocery chain operates 181 stores in the northeast, with locations in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.
