Hartford Teen Dies from Injuries Sustained in Police Chase

An 18-year-old Hartford man has died from injuries sustained in a crash after a police pursuit that stretched from the capital city to Bloomfield, according to police.

Hartford detectives believed there was a gun in the car and tried to stop the vehicle driven by Xavier Myers at Pershing Street at Blue Hills Avenue around 7:15 p.m. Sunday, police said, but Myers did not stop and continued down Blue Hills Avenue into Bloomfield, where he lost control and hit another vehicle.

Myers suffered a head injury and internal bleeding and died on Monday morning, police said.

His 16-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries.

Both were transported to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, where Myers was pronounced dead on Monday.

The people in the vehicle Myers is accused of hitting were transported to Hartford Hospital and do not have lift-threatening injuries, according to police.

Because of severe damage to the vehicle, officers could not conduct a full search.

Police said a live 9mm bullet was found in the car.
