Firefighters in the Taftville section of Norwich doused a dumpster with 2,000 gallons of water Friday afternoon when it went up in flames, igniting hazardous and construction materials outside a condo complex.
Officials with the Taftville Fire Company said crews were called to the condos on Route 97 after the dumpster caught fire around 1 p.m. Friday.
Firefighters diverted runoff from storm drains to keep it out of the water supply.
It's not clear what caused the fire.
