Hearings Set for Band Director Accused of Bullying Students

John Yoon is appealing the Superintendent's decision to fire him

Hearings for a suspended Connecticut high school band director accused of bullying students have been scheduled for this week.

The Greenwich Time reports that hearings for Greenwich High School's John Yoon are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. He's appealing Superintendent William McKersie's decision to fire him.

McKersie wants Yoon dismissed because he says he bullied two students within the past year. McKersie's attorney couldn't be reached.

The proceedings will focus on whether Yoon violated a last-chance agreement that went into effect last year after he was suspended for 10 days for a confrontation with a colleague. Records show he's been suspended at least three times for run-ins with students and colleagues during his 23-year career.

His attorney says Yoon has requested the hearings be public.
