Heavy Rain Could Impact Thursday Evening Commute

Most of Thursday will be cloudy and foggy with pockets of drizzle, but steadier rain will arrive by evening.

After lunchtime, the steadier and heavier batch of rain will move in from southwest to northeast. That means by 2 p.m., parts of Western Massachusetts and Connecticut will already be turning quite wet.

The heavier rain will move into Greater Boston for the evening commute, likely resulting in some delays on the roadways.

Meanwhile, parts of Northern New England will get into the steadier rain around the dinner hour.

The steadiest rain will continue through about midnight, before tapering off to showers during the wee hours of Friday. Most communities will see 0.25 to 0.75 inches of rain.

While a spot shower is still possible near the coast on Friday, the sun will return and most places will be totally dry.

The weekend turns much chillier, with mountain snow showers likely on Saturday.

Finally, some good news for ski country!
