Temperatures Could Reach the 70s for Some Today, But Rain Is on the Way

Only far Northern New England, and parts of Maine, will stay cooler with some 50s for highs

Despite now being in November, our temperature trend is up on Wednesday. Highs will climb into the 60s for most of New England, with some communities even nearing 70 in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Southeastern Massachusetts. Only far Northern New England, and parts of Maine, will stay cooler with some 50s for highs.

A mixture of sun and clouds will gradually give way to mainly cloudy skies by Thursday as our next area of low pressure arrives. Rain with that system will overspread Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine during the morning hours. The rain will continue to be steadiest and most widespread in those areas through the day, and into Thursday night. Totals will approach 1” in some cities and towns there. Because of the clouds and rain expect highs to stay stuck in the 40s and 50s.

It will be warmer in Southern New England on Thursday, with 60s to near 70 once again. While skies will be mostly cloudy there, rain showers will hold off until late in the day. With the later start time, and less intense rainfall, totals will generally be less than a half an inch.

Showers will end for all late Thursday night or very early Friday morning, perhaps as some wet snowflakes in far Northern New England.

Sunshine returns with a chilly wind on Friday. Highs will only be in the 40s.

Cool conditions will carry over into the weekend, with highs in the 40s and 50s with a blend of sunshine and clouds. A spot shower is possible here or there, but right now that appears unlikely to impact any outdoor plans.
