The hiker's name was not released

A 59-year-old hiker is recovering after she slipped and injured her ankle and needed assistance while hiking on Vermont's Long Trail.

Rescuers responded Saturday afternoon to help the hiker from Williston at Camel's Hump. Using rope, they lowered her over some of the most difficult sections of the trail.

She was brought to the base of the mountain and taken to a hospital early Sunday.

Her name was not released.
