Holy Cross Women's Basketball Coach Suspended Amid Investigation

The College of the Holy Cross' women's basketball head coach has been suspended amid an investigation, the Worcester liberal arts college announced Friday morning.

Bill Gibbons will be suspended for the remainder of the team's season, according to a statement from Holy Cross' interim athletics director Brendan Sullivan.

The suspension comes amid an "internal investigation into a personnel matter," Sullivan said.

No other details regarding the nature of the investigation were immediately disclosed by the college.

No one answered the door when NBC10 Boston knocked at Gibbons' home.

The team's assistant head coach, Ann McInerney, will assume head coach duties for the rest of the season, Sullivan said in a statement.
