Home Security Camera Catches Burglars Breaking Into Home in Fairhaven, Massachusetts

The resident noticed the burglars while watching a live video feed

A resident in Fairhaven, Massachusetts helped police catch two burglars breaking into his home after he saw the burglars enter on a live video feed.

According to the Fairhaven Police Department, they received the call from the resident around 8 a.m. on Friday morning after he noticed the men on his home surveillence video feed. 

Police responded to the home located on Howland Road and discovered two men inside the house on the second floor.

Fairhaven Police officer along with Massachusetts State Police officers surrounded the house.

Officers entered the home and took one burglar into custody without incident on the second floor.

The second burglar jumped out of a second floor window where he was caught and taken into custody after a foot chase through the neighborhood.

The two suspects were identified as 28-year-old Brian Chandanais and 29-year-old Jay Burch of Acushnet.

Chandanais was charged with breaking and entering in the daytime to commit a felony, vandalism, larceny from a building, possession of burglarious instruments and resisting arrest.

Burtch was charged with breaking and entering in the daytime to commit a felony, two counts of vandalism, possession of burglarious instruments, disturbing the peace and larceny from a building.

Both suspects were arraigned in New Bedford Third District Court on Friday.
