‘Hot as Soccer Balls': Braintree Police Tell Criminals to Stay Home

If you're thinking about partaking in criminal activity this weekend, police in Braintree, Massachusetts have a message for you.

"Stay home, blast the AC, binge 'Stranger Things' season 3, play with the face app, practice karate in your basement," the department posted on Facebook. "It is straight up hot as soccer balls out there."

Temperatures this weekend are expected to near 100 degrees, but it's the combination of heat and humidity that will make it feel much hotter. Cooling centers have opened across New England due to the extreme heat.

Conducting criminal activity in the throes of a heat emergency would be brazen -- "next level henchman status," according to Braintree police. "But also very dangerous."

Wait until Monday, the department suggests, when the weather is expected to reach safer conditions.
