House, Car Struck in Chicopee Shooting

Chicopee detectives are searching for someone who fired numerous gunshots in a residential area Sunday morning with bullets striking at least one house and a car.

"Thankfully, no one was hit or injured," police said.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. after dispatchers received reports of numerous shots fired in the area of Wolfe Street. Police arrived and found a number of spent shell casings.

"There were reports of a ricochet round striking a home in Springfield, right over the line," police said. "Also, one motor vehicle in front of 4 Wolfe (St.) was struck."

Police called for a K-9 dog in hopes of tracking down the shooter or shooters. The dog was unable to track any suspects.

Chicopee police detectives, narcotics officers and specialized task force members are investigating the incident. Police said they also plan to step up the number of patrols in the area.

"If you live in this area, and see or hear anything that appears suspicious please contact our dispatch immediately so we can respond," police said.
