El Pelon Taqueria in Boston is holding its 17th annual hot chili pepper eating contest.
The prize? One year of free burritos.
The chili eating contest is scheduled for Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the restaurant, located at 92 Peterborough St.
All contestants gather around a table and are given two minutes to eat each pepper. The contest starts with mild peppers and progresses to hotter ones. Anyone who is unable to move to the next pepper is eliminated.
The last person standing is declared the 2018 Chili Pepper Eating Champion.
The cost is $30 to enter. A limited number of contestant tickets are available.
Last year's winner set an event record by eating 120 habanero peppers in one seating.
