    Victim Identified in Fatal Weymouth Pedestrian Crash

    Massachusetts authorities have identified the 71-year-old Brockton man who was struck and killed by an SUV in Weymouth Monday evening.

    A deadly car crash involving a Massachusetts firefighter is under investigation.

    Police say 71-year-old William Fredette of Brockton was hit by an SUV shortly before 6 p.m. Monday on Route 3A in Weymouth.

    The driver, identified only as a Hull firefighter and paramedic, performed CPR on Fredette and remained at the scene, according to Hull Fire Chief Chris Russo. The driver was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

    "Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and their family as well as our member that was involved in this tragic accident," the fire department said in a statement.
