‘In Schilling We Trust!' Gov's Aide Pushed EDC on 38 Studios

A top aide to former Rhode Island Gov. Don Carcieri (kuh-CHEHR'-ee) pushed Economic Development Corp. staffers to call radio shows to sell the 38 Studios deal amid harsh public criticism in 2010, closing one email with the line "In Schilling we trust!"

The email by former Carcieri spokeswoman Amy Kempe is among tens of thousands of documents released in the lawsuit over the $75 million deal with Curt Schilling's failed video game company.

Kempe now works for the attorney general's office, which is investigating the deal.

Emails sent July 27, 2010, the day after the deal was approved, shows Kempe directing EDC staff that Carcieri wants them to defend against "uninformed and outlandish claims by pundits and political candidates."

Kempe did not comment, saying she had to speak first with the attorney general.
