Increasing Clouds Throughout Day, Chance of Freezing Rain Later

Temperatures will warm into the mid 40s in southern New England and 30s in northern New England

A coastal storm is sitting off of North Carolina. It’s producing heavy rain, strong winds and major coastal flooding. During the day today, that storm will start moving north.

Clouds will increase throughout the day. Temperatures will warm into the mid 40s in southern New England and 30s in northern New England. It will feel rather raw when you take into account the clouds and northeast wind.

Rain will move in overnight and some of that rain will be heavy along the coast. Interior areas could be cold enough for some freezing rain. It’s still too early to tell how much of a significant threat it will be, but there could be some icing away from the coast.

Winds will pick up along the coast. Gusts may approach 50 MPH. Coast flooding is possible during the afternoon high tide on Monday. It appears we will only see minor flooding, but there could be pockets of moderate flooding in southern New England.

The system will pull away Tuesday. We will dry out and clear out during the day. Temperatures will warm back into the mid and upper 40s. Fifty degree warmth is possible by the end of the week.

Next weekend looks seasonably cool with highs in the mid 40s. No major storms are on the horizon.
