Increasing Temps This Weekend May Bring Storms

Temps Slowly Rising Later This Week

Today (Thursday): Fair and pleasant. Highs in the 70s. Overnight Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy. Lows around 60. Friday: AM clouds to fair sky. Highs in the 70s. (Published Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019)

A cool breeze blowing off of the ocean Thursday and Friday will keep temperatures cooler than average at the coast, but don’t write off summer just yet. We'll be back close to 90 by early next week.

While highs at the coast will be in the 70s on Thursday, we’ll reach the 80s inland with a mixture of sun and clouds. The vast majority of the day will be dry, with just a few late day showers or downpours in far Northern and Western New England.

Lows overnight sink into the 50s and 60s, with partly to mostly cloudy skies. We’ll still have a few showers or downpours far north and west.

Friday is even a touch cooler, with upper 60s and low 70s at the coast as the wind stays onshore. Inland, we’re closer to 80. Northern New England will be mostly cloudy with occasional showers or downpours, but in Southern New England, it’s just an isolated shower with more sunshine overall.

Temperatures creep up over the weekend, in the 70s to near 80 on Saturday and in the 80s on Sunday. Both days will feature a good deal of clouds with periodic showers or storms. The best chance of getting wet repeatedly will be through interior sections of New England, with a lower risk for somewhere like Cape Cod and the Islands. Even there we’ll have a few spot showers, but it won’t be as widespread as inland areas.

Monday will be warm and muggy with highs around 90. Any showers or storms look to be focused near the Canadian border.

We stay warm and muggy through mid-week, before some storms bring us back to close to average late week.
