Some homeowners in the Boston area are scrambling to find new home insurance after receiving cancellation notices for when their current policy expires.
The Boston Globe reports that the insurance industry is sending out the notices to customers who filed large claims this year, multiple claims over the past few years or both.
It comes as the region continues to feel the effects of the record-setting snow from last winter.
So far, insurance agents and state regulators report only small increases in the so-called non-renewals, but they're expecting that number to jump next year.
Massachusetts does not have laws governing when companies can decide against renewing a customer.
