Intruder Barricaded Himself in Attic of Bristol Home: Police

A man who broke into a home in Bristol on Wednesday night barricaded himself in the attic until officers captured him, police said.

Officers responded to a single-family home on Fairview Avenue at 8:47 p.m. after a neighbor reported a man breaking into the home.

When officers arrived, the intruder was still in the house and authorities tried to get him to come out, but he refused and went further into the house, then barricaded himself in the attic, police said.

Bristol’s Emergency Response Team was also called in because it was not clear if the man had a weapon.

Police eventually captured the intruder and identified the suspect as Joseph Saluski, 41, of Bristol.

He has been charged with third-degree burglary, criminal attempt at larceny in the sixth degree, criminal mischief in the second degree, interfering with an officer and possession of burglary tools.

Saluski was able to post the $30,000 bond placed on him, but was released to a Hartford Police Department, which has a larceny arrest warrant for him.
