Massachusetts Fencing Coach Accused of Sexual Misconduct Involving Minor

A Massachusetts fencing coach has been accused of sexual misconduct involving a minor following his suspension by USA Fencing last week.

According to the U.S. Center for SafeSport website, Beverly resident Jack Mullarkey was suspended in early March for sexual misconduct and sexual misconduct involving a minor.

NBC10 Boston reported the suspension last week and that he had been ordered to stay away from children. However, the sport’s governing body did not give a specific reason. The Essex District Attorney’s office would also not confirm or deny if there was an ongoing investigation.

Mullarkey has trained students of all ages in the Greater Boston area at his 3MB Fencing Club in Peabody.

NBC10 Boston was unable to reach Mullarkey for comment last week, but his brother Ed Mullarkey says the suspension was unfair and frustrating.

He says the fallout has ruined their reputations and the business.

"Because all the coaching (fencing) programs were done in schools, all the schools have to terminate any time there's an investigation," Mullarkey said.

Mullarkey added that his brother has never been accused of any type of misconduct, let alone with children.
