James Foley's Mother Speaks About Loss of Steven Sotloff

Diane Foley hopes the death of her son and Steven Sotloff by ISIS militants will not be in vain

James Foley's family is also grieving the loss of Steven Sotloff.

On Wednesday, Foley's mother Diane Foley spoke to NECN. Just two weeks after her son was brutally killed by an ISIS fighter, she learned another journalist, Steven Sotloff, suffered the same fate.

"I just want to extend our deepest condolences to the Sotloff family and their friends. We are just heartbroken for them," she said. "I just pray that all Americans will hold the Sotloff family in prayer as they have for us. People have been incredibly supportive and good to us and we're very grateful for that. We truly received support and prayer from around the world."

Now, Foley hopes that her son and Steven Sotloff's deaths will not be in vain.

"We hope that this will be funneled into goodness and peace and challenge all the leaders of the world- our president and all leaders- to find a way together to prevent further lives from being lost in this way," Foley said.
