Police: Jeep Hits Utility Pole, Crashes Into House for Sale in Plainville

Police are investigating after a Jeep crashed into a house for sale in Plainville, Massachusetts Friday morning.

The crash occurred around 7:45 a.m. at 60 East Bacon St.

Police told WJAR-TV the female driver somehow hit a pole and a tree before crashing into the front of the house. The driver, whose identity has not been released, was taken to an area hospital. Her condition was not immediately available.

Elaine Swanson and her husband, the owners of the home, who live in a second house on the property, were not injured. They said the 100-year-old home, which is up for sale, had four scheduled viewings on Friday afternoon.

Swanson said despite the mess, she was grateful the driver was OK.

I'm just thankful that no one was living in there, she's OK. A house is a house. It can be fixed," Swanson said.

Authorities said a gas meter at the home was struck during the crash and caused a leak, which firefighters were working to contain.
