Judge: Nightclub Stabbing Suspect too Dangerous to Release

29-year-old Andrew Ramos faces two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and other offenses

A judge has ruled that a reputed Worcester, Massachusetts, gang member charged in a nightclub stabbing is too dangerous to release on bail.

The Telegram & Gazette reports 29-year-old Andrew Ramos faces two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and other offenses stemming from the March 13 stabbing at El Rincon Night Club.

Prosecutors say Ramos, an alleged member of the Vice Lords street gang, stabbed two unarmed 19-year-old men outside the Washington Street club.

Assistant District Attorney Kelly Heard told Judge Jennifer Ginsburg on Thursday that there were no conditions where Ramos could be released without jeopardizing the safety of the public or the victims.

Attorney Kevin Greenhalgh claims that Ramos acted in self-defense and someone else committed the stabbing.
