Julian Edelman Graduates From Kent State

The Patriots wide receiver completed the degree he started back in 2006

Super Bowl champion. Children's book author. College graduate.

Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman added another line to his résumé on Saturday. The three-time Super Bowl champion followed up last Saturday's appearance at the Kentucky Derby by walking at Kent State University's graduation. In an Instagram post, Edelman said that he wanted to finish the degree he started back in 2006.

"It is important to me that I make my parents proud as I fulfill a promise that I made to them that I would, one day, be a college graduate," he said. "I also want to set a great example for my daughter, so that when I talk about the importance of a college degree, I can show her that earning my degree was important to me."

Edelman left Kent State after he was drafted by the Patriots with the 232nd overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He started at quarterback for the Golden Flashes for three years.

"I'm a little nervous, it's like pregame butterflies," he said in an Instagram video taken pre-commencement.

After he walked across the podium, Edelman ran off the stage and high-fived students who sat at the end of their rows.

The acheivement didn't go unnoticed by his quarterback.

"Congrats on 14 years of college!!! That’s got to be another record you set!!" Tom Brady tweeted.

Edelman majored in business management, according to Kent State Magazine.
