A man who found a diamond ring while cleaning a septic tank in Kingston, Massachusetts, a few weeks ago has cleaned it up and is looking to return it to its owner.

Kingston Wastewater operator Carl Ingeme spotted the piece of jewelry while shoveling dirt and stones from the tank.

"There was the ring on top, and it was shiny," he said.

    "Very dirty," he added.

Don't worry, the ring has been cleaned — soaked in isopropyl alcohol and scrubbed — and even taken to a jeweler to verify that it's real.

Ingeme wants to return it to its home, but it's difficult to say where it came from. It could be from nearly anywhere along Boston's south shore — the facility takes in about 25,000 gallons of septage a day.

"The ring does belongs to somebody and somebody needs to have it back," Ingeme said.

He has the ring, as well as some identifying factors that he doesn't want public so he can identify the true owner. If you think this ring is yours or if you know who’s it could be, contact NBC10 Boston and we will put you in contact with Ingeme.
