Large Piece of Ice Shatters Car's Windshield on Maine Highway

A large chunk of ice flew off of a car traveling on a Maine highway Saturday, shattering the windshield of another car.

According to Maine State Police, Kristin Harmon was driving on I-95 in Houlton when she went to pass a slower moving car. As she was passing, a big chunk of ice flew off Rose Rodriguez's car and went through Harmon's windshield, police said.

The two subsequently pulled over on the side of the highway.

Rodriguez was issued a traffic summons for the insecure load on her car, police said.

Harmon's car was towed because of the damage to the windshield.

No one was injured in the incident, police said.

State police issued a reminder to Maine residents to clear snow and ice from their cars before getting on the road.
