Lawsuit in Fatal Maine ATV Crash Settled

Stacy Savage filed the wrongful-death suit last year in Kennebec County Superior Court

A lawsuit filed by the family of a 16-year-old Whitefield, Maine, boy who died when the all-terrain vehicle he was operating crashed into a car driven by a teenage girl has been settled.

Stacy Savage filed the wrongful-death suit last year in Kennebec County Superior Court as personal representative of the estate of Ryan Wayne Mullens.

The suit named Karen Crommett, mother of the 16-year-old driver, as the defendant.

Police say Mullens' ATV crossed paths with the vehicle driven by the teen in June 2014. Mullens, who wasn't wearing a helmet, was thrown off the ATV as it rolled over. He died at the hospital.

The Kennebec Journal reports attorney Jason Jabar said Tuesday the case has been settled with the Crommetts' insurance company. Details of the settlement weren't available.
