Lawyers Want Charges Dismissed in Toddler Death

A judge has said the evidence against Joshua Blow is "paper thin"

A Vermont judge has heard a request from defense lawyers to dismiss charges against a man accused of killing a 2-year-old boy.

Joshua Blow of Shelburne was accused of second-degree murder following Aiden Haskins' death on July 22. He was initially held without bail. Bail was then set at $25,000 by a judge, who said the evidence against Blow was "paper thin."

Attorneys for Blow, who has pleaded not guilty, filed a motion to dismiss the case, which the prosecution opposes.

The Burlington Free Press reports
a two-day hearing ended suddenly Tuesday, with no immediate explanation.

Prosecutors had prepared two witnesses to testify as to why the 27-year-old Blow should continue to face charges. But the witnesses did not testify and lawyers gave final arguments before Judge James Crucitti.
