Legal Pot Hearing Sure to Draw Huge Crowd in Maine

The hearing will be the first chance for the public to provide testimony about the rules.

The rules that could govern Maine's legal marijuana program will be up for a hearing this month that is certain to be well attended.

The state Office of Marijuana Policy is holding the hearing on May 23 at a hotel in Portland. The agency says it's gathering input on the latest version of the rules for adult use marijuana in Maine.

The hearing will be the first chance for the public to provide testimony about the rules. The marijuana office says the hearing will begin at 8 a.m. and won't finish until everyone is done with testimony.

Maine voters chose to legalize marijuana in 2016, but the development of the rules has been long and sometimes difficult. Medical marijuana is already legal in the state.
