School Custodian Hurt After Lockers Fall on Top of Him at Medway School

A Massachusetts custodian was hospitalized Monday after some lockers collapsed at a Medway school.

The school superintendent said the custodian was routinely cleaning a bank of lockers at Medway Middle School for the summer when the lockers somehow released from the wall and pinned the custodian underneath.

The custodian, who has not been identified, was freed by area fire and police crews.

The custodian was taken to an area hospital for an evaluation; the custodian's exact condition is unclear.

Medway Superintendent Armand Pires said in a statement that the situation is concerning.

"This situation obviously causes concern. We will be conducting a comprehensive assessment to determine the cause of the accident and will partner with our building and maintenance teams to put safeguards in place to ensure that this type of accident is prevented in the future," Pires said.
