Logan Airport Reporting Flight Delays, Cancellations Due to Icy Runways

Boston's Logan International Airport is reporting numerous flight delays and cancellations as a result of icy runways caused by the brutally cold temperatures.

The Massachusetts Port Authority confirmed a high number of cancellations, but didn't release exact figures.

According to the website FlightAware, there are 396 total delays and 337 cancellations at Logan.

The website said departure delays average about an hour, though some inbound flights are being delayed at their airport of origin for five hours or more due to snow and ice.

Monday's temperatures were expected to be more than 20 degrees below normal across the northeast, with wind gusts up to 30 mph. Wind chills are expected to approach minus 35 degrees in some areas of northern and western New England.
