A Londonderry man was charged for drug possession and endangering the welfare of a child on Thursday.
Members of the Special Enforcement Divisions’ Street Crime Unit were conducting a plain clothes assignment on the east side when they noticed a man enter a suspected drug house at around 7:10 p.m. He was reportedly inside for 20 minutes.
The man, identified at David Emerson, 31 of Londonderry, then drove away from the house in his Jeep Cherokee. Police followed him and found him parked at Derryfield Park. An off-white rock-like substance was found in the center console of his car and a young child was in the back seat of the vehicle. A glass pipe and a small amount of crack cocaine were also found on the center console.
Emerson was taken into custody. The four-year-old child was taken to the police headquarters and later picked up by his mother. The child was unharmed.
Emerson will appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on October 14, 2016.
