Lounge Temporarily Closed After Double Shooting

City officials have temporarily shut down a Providence, Rhode Island, nightclub after two men were shot.

Police say a 28-year-old man was shot in the chest and a 32-year-old man was shot in the lower back outside the Van Gogh Lounge early Sunday morning. Maj. Thomas Verdi says both are in stable condition.

Maj. David Lapatin tells the Providence Journal city officials held an emergency hearing Sunday and shut down the nightclub until Wednesday, when the city's Board of Licenses is expected to discuss the incident.

Lapatin says the Massachusetts State Police have identified a suspect.

The Board of Licenses voted to revoke the lounge's license after a fatal 2012 double shooting. The punishment was later reduced to a suspension on appeal to the state Department of Business Regulation.
