Powerful thunderstorms were reported in parts of New England again on Wednesday.

But even so, this is the quietest weather we've had in days, and we're expecting the quietest weather day of the week Thursday. We are tracking a weak front moving from Canada.

Sunshine and fair with the clouds may yield a shower or a brief thunderstorm for our Thursday, but otherwise, it's a pretty nice day with a high temperature close to 90 degrees. It will be cooler as you move to the north.

High pressure from Canada brings a brief period of less warm and humid weather Thursday night into early Friday.

But, low pressure in New York will ripple along a front stalled in New England, returning downpours to the region Friday.

In central and northern New England, we may have inches of rain in a very short time with flash flooding possible. We also have to be on the lookout for powerful thunderstorms in the warm sector south. High temperature ranges from the 60s in Maine to nearly 90 degrees in Connecticut.

Another front from Canada pushes in Friday night and early Saturday. This front will gradually move offshore Saturday, but not before another round of showers and storms from northwest to southeast. The best weather on Saturday is well to the north and west.

Sunday and Monday should feature much cooler and less humid air with a good amount of sunshine. High temperatures will be in the 70s east and 80s west.

After that will probably warm up with a return threat for downpours.
