A Maine man charged with killing his wife was ordered to be held without bail during his arraignment Friday.
Luc Tieman did not enter a plea after being charged two days earlier with murder in the death of Valerie Tieman. He was charged after investigators found her body 200 to 300 yards behind the home of her in-laws in Fairfield.
Police say Luc Tieman told them he last saw his wife on Aug. 30 when he left her in the couple's pickup while going inside a Walmart in Skowhegan. But police didn't begin investigating until her parents reported her missing on Sept. 9.
Luc Tieman was arrested in Waterville after spending the night in a motel.
In an affidavit, investigators say Luc Tieman told them his wife died from a heroin overdose, but an autopsy showed that she died from two gunshots to the head.
His next court date is Nov. 18.
Family members were in court and declined to comment.
