US Attorney: Lynn District Court Probation Officer Asked Teenage Girl to Send Him Nude Pics

An assistant chief probation officer for Lynn District Court is charged with engaging in sexual behavior with a teenage girl over a messaging and social media site.

Brian Orlandella, 46, of Beverly, is charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of transfer of obscene material to a minor.

According to court documents, a Texas mother contacted local police in May about text messages that she found on her 13-year-old daughter's cell phone between her daughter and an adult man, later identified as Orlandella.

The messages, sent via Kik, a messaging and social media site popular with teens, revealed conversations in which the man sent the girl images of himself performing sexual acts and directed her to send him naked pictures and videos of herself, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. She allegedly told the man that she was 14 years old, and he acknowledged that he was much older than her.

Authorities were able to trace Orlandella's IP address to his residence in Beverly, where they executed a search warrant Monday, seizing phones that are now undergoing forensic analysis.

Orlandella appeared in federal court in Boston on Monday and is scheduled for a probable cause hearing on Friday.
