MBTA Employees Rescue Owl That Struck Trolley

An eastern screech owl is recovering from injuries after colliding with an MBTA trolley last night in Brookline, Massachusetts.

The Green Line operator was able to move the stunned bird off the tracks.

Two other MBTA employees arrived and placed it in a cardboard box.

After they were unable to reach anyone at the MSPCA, Mass. Environmental Police or animal control, one of the employees drove the owl to Tufts' wildlife clinic in Grafton.

Acting MBTA GM Brian Shortsleeve said the employees went above and beyond their regular duties.

"It was a terrific team effort last night by some very dedicated employees," he said.
