The MBTA is considering options for compensating customers for storm-related delays.
MBTA Chief Financial Officer Jonathan Davis said those options include a week of free fares, which would cost the MBTA about $6 million.
Other options include rebates for monthly pass holders or letting customers with monthly passes use them for another month.
The options were presented Tuesday to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation's finance committee. The full MassDOT board is expected to decide next week whether to approve any of the plans.
Davis also said the estimated cost to the T of winter storm cleanup was about $40 million.
Some of that could be covered by insurance or federal disaster funds.
