After a $36 million renovation project, the Wollaston Station on the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's Red Line is ready to reopen.
The station in Quincy will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday, according to MBTA General Manager Steve Poftak.
The Wollaston Station underwent modernization and code-compliance renovation starting in January 2018. MBTA officials said it was the only Red Line stop that had been non-ADA-accessible.
Part of the improvements include new elevators, additional customer paths, upgraded stairways, new bathrooms and energy-efficient lighting.
The station, which had been shut down for 20 months, is part of a series of upgrades for the MBTA.
On Wednesday, six new Orange Line trains were rolled out with the goal of replacing the line's entire fleet of 152 trains.
The MBTA is also working on delivering 252 Red Line trains and upgrading signal systems and maintenance facilities on both lines.
