Emergency crews responded to a hazmat situation at Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Thursday morning.
Officials at MIT say the incident was reported in a contained area in the basement of Building 66, which is on Ames Street. The building was subsequently evacuated. No injuries were reported.
Cambridge fire officials said the sprinklers turned on during the incident, and crews conducted air samplings.
Ames Street was closed amid the response.
The investigation is ongoing.
