The trial of a Maine man accused of using Facebook to lure a teenager to her death will open with a setback for the defense.

The trial of 21-year-old Kyle Dube of Orono, Maine, is expected to begin Monday in Bangor and last two weeks. Superior Court Justice Ann Murray has granted the state's motion to exclude defense attorneys from naming an alternative suspect in the case.

Defense attorneys wanted to name Dube's former girlfriend.

Dube is accused of using a fake Facebook profile to set up a meeting with 15-year-old Nichole Cable of Glenburn, then killing her in May 2013. He pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping and murder in 2013. Defense attorneys and prosecutors are declining to comment on the case until Monday's opening statements.
