Report: Maine's Moose Population Declining Due to Ticks

Maine's moose population is still reportedly declining.

WCSH reports the decline is due to the influx of winter ticks, which is caused by warming temperatures.

The ticks have been reported as hunting season for moose is underway.

"Every day when it's warm out and the ticks are moving around is another day for the moose to get more ticks and heavier loads of ticks," Lee Kantar, a big game biologist with Maine's Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Department, told WCSH.
