Maine Police ID Body Found in Leeds

Officials in Maine say a man whose body was found in a wooded area in Leeds Saturday afternoon has been identified.

The body was discovered off Bernie Hartford Road by a couple riding their ATV around 5 p.m. They notified authorities immediately.

Officials in Maine initially solicited the public for help in identifying the man but say they now know who he is. Authorities plan to release the name of the man once his next of kin has been notified. 

An autopsy is underway to determine the cause and manner of death.

Detectives say the victim is a black male between the ages of 20 and 40. He was 5’9’’ tall and weighed around 110 pounds. He had closely cropped hair on the side but long and curly on top with an L-shaped scar on his right arm.

The man was found wearing black pants, black pull over jacket with a white horizontal stripe on the front, black Nike Air Jordan sneakers with gray treads.
