Maine Supreme Court Hearing Appeals at High Schools

Maine's supreme court is wrapping up its latest series of road trips to high schools

Maine's supreme court is wrapping up its latest series of road trips to high schools.

The court will hear three appeals Tuesday at Presque Isle High School.

Earlier this month, the court heard arguments at Mattanawcook Academy in Lincoln and at Yarmouth High School. The Presque Isle visit was pushed back because of the school's break for the potato harvest.

Chief Justice Leigh Saufley calls it "a real-life civics lesson to Maine high school students."

All told, the Supreme Judicial Court has heard more than 80 cases while visiting 26 schools across the state. Last year, court was held at Orono and Cape Elizabeth high schools and Nokomis High School in Newport.
