Maine game wardens say a 50-year-old woman was killed when her snowmobile went airborne west of Portage Lake.
Wardens on Monday identified the victim as Denise Beaulieu of Portage Lake.
They say she was traveling at a high rate of speed Saturday when she attempted to exit the lake onto a trail but instead hit a snowbank that sent the rider and snowmobile into the air and into trees.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by Ashland Fire and Rescue.
