As the man accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death in her home in Framingham, Massachusetts, was led into court Thursday, the victim's family shouted at him.
Christopher McKoy, 25, of Brockton, was arrested Tuesday in connection to a separate case and was arraigned Thursday in the murder of 27-year-old Jamee Ammons-Maddrey. The victim’s family said they recently learned from Ammons-Maddrey’s friends that she was in an abusive relationship.
"What could be that extreme that you could take someone's life? To stab my baby? She's a tiny thing! Four[-foot]-11!" said the victim’s mother, Rosemary Maddrey.
Citing mother’s intuition, Rosemary said she knew something was wrong when her daughter failed to return her phone calls on Sunday. The following day, she drove to Framingham to check on her daughter and called police for a wellness check after her knocks at the front door were unanswered.
"When (police) closed the door, I knew she was in there," Rosemary said in tears. "I knew they found my baby."
Ammons-Maddrey was found dead Monday in her apartment with multiple stab wounds.
At an unrelated court appearance Wednesday, McKoy’s lawyer said the defendant has a history of schizophrenia and that further hospital evaluation is needed.
